Re: 2015 Staff Senator Election Voting Announcement

The nomination process for the staff election to the University Senate is now complete. Newark and New Brunswick staff will now have the opportunity to vote for the candidates that you feel will best represent your interests on the Senate. (Camden and RBHS staff, please see below, “Camden and RBHS Elections.”) The University Senate is an important advisory and legislative body that represents the entire community of staff, faculty, students, administrators and alumni to Rutgers University's president and boards.

Voting Process

In order to simplify the voting process, a Staff Senate Elections website has been created. The website allows you to learn about the candidates by reading their personal statements, and then vote for the candidates of your choice. You may now vote at the Staff Senate Elections website at All votes are confidential and must be received by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1.

After the votes are tabulated, a notification will be sent announcing the election results. This year, seven (7) of the eighteen (18) staff representatives will be elected to the University Senate for two-year terms. Those positions have been allocated for each campus: Camden two seats; Newark two seats; New Brunswick three seats. The remaining eleven (11) seats (including all four RBHS seats) are already occupied for terms extending through the 2015-16 academic year.

Employees may only vote for representatives from their own campuses.

Camden and RBHS Elections this Year

Please note that in Camden the number of eligible nominees did not exceed the number of available positions, and all of the RBHS positions are filled through June 30, 2016, so voting for/by Camden and RBHS staff is not necessary this year.

New Brunswick and Newark Elections

There are many eligible nominees for New Brunswick and Newark this year, so the elections for Senate representatives from those campuses are being held. Please be sure to vote if you are New Brunswick or Newark staff.

Thank you for participating in this important election process.
