The Division of Public Safety is responsible for responding to all emergencies, suspicious activities, crimes, security and safety concerns, and parking and transportation. The goal of the Division is to provide for a safe, secure, enjoyable, and fulfilling university experience.

The Rutgers University Police Department is a full-service police agency that operates 24/7. The department provides traditional police service as well as crime prevention classes, walking escorts, jumpstarts and security surveys. There are over 1,000 cameras and other state of the art technology used in conjunction with the traditional and proactive programs of the RUPD.
