Part-time employees at Rutgers may enroll in Part-time State Health Benefits and participate in a state-administered pension plan (depending on the position). The following are steps you should take to enroll in various benefit programs. If you need assistance, please contact a Benefits Specialist at 732-932-3020, ext. 4077.
- Complete Part-time State Health Benefits Program Application
- Provide marriage certificate, if applicable
- Provide Certificate of Civil Union or Domestic Partnership, if applicable
- Provide Affidavit of Dependency, if applicable
- Return the forms to the person in your department responsible for payroll processing, who will forward them to the Division of Payroll Services.
Please note that plan membership is determined by the state based on job title.
Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS)
- Complete a PERS Enrollment Application
- Return the application to the person in your department responsible for payroll processing, who will forward it to the Division of Payroll Services.
Alternate Benefit Program (ABP)
- Complete ABP Carrier Allocation Form/Salary Reduction Agreement
- Obtain unique enrollment form from state-authorized investment carrier
- Return unique enrollment form directly to carrier
- Return a copy of the unique enrollment form, ABP Enrollment Application, and ABP Carrier Election and Allocation form to the person in your department responsible for payroll processing, who will forward them to the Division of Payroll Services.
Additional Contributions Tax Sheltered Program (ACTS)
- Complete ACTS Carrier Allocation Form/Salary Reduction Agreement
- Obtain unique 403(b) Enrollment Form from state-authorized investment carrier (TIAA-CREF participants complete Group Supplemental Retirement Enrollment Form)
- Return unique 403(b) Enrollment Form directly to carrier
- Return a copy of the unique 403(b) Enrollment Form and the ACTS Carrier Allocation/Salary Reduction Agreement form to the person in your department who handles payroll processing, who will forward them to the Division of Payroll Services.
Supplemental Annuity Collective Trust (SACT)
- Complete SACT Enrollment Application
- Return the application to the person in your department who handles payroll processing, who will forward it to the Division of Payroll Services.
State Employees Deferred Compensation Plan
- Complete an ABP Salary Reduction Agreement
- Complete an ABP Carrier Election and Allocation form
- Obtain unique 403(b) Enrollment Form from state-authorized investment carrier (TIAA-CREF participants complete Group Supplemental Retirement Enrollment Form)
- Return the unique 403(b) Enrollment Form directly to the carrier
- Provide a copy of the unique 403(b) Enrollment Form and the ABP Carrier Allocation/Salary Reduction Agreement form to the person in your department responsible for payroll processing, who will forward them to the Division of Payroll Services.
