Change In Status - Staff To Faculty

Tuition Remission

 

Faculty members below the rank of Associate Professor are entitled to full tuition remission. Faculty members at and above the rank of Associate Professor are entitled to 50% tuition remission.

Retirement

Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS) members who transfer to Alternate Benefit Program (ABP) eligible positions will have 90 days to make an irrevocable decision to remain in PERS or join the ABP.  Employees in this category will receive a PERS/ABP packet with instructions.

Paid Time Off

If your status changes from staff to faculty you must always take all allowable accrued vacation, administrative leave, and personal holidays prior to changing to faculty status.  No time off is carried over to the faculty appointment and no payments in lieu of paid-time off are permitted. Sick leave balances are maintained in your records to be used if you return to a staff position.  If you retire from the faculty position, sick leave payment will be made based on days available and last salary in the staff position.
