Vacation
Vacation Time for Full-Time 12-month Staff Employees
- Vacation is accrued during a fiscal year (fiscal year = July 1 through June 30)
- Vacation days earned one fiscal year are to be taken during the next fiscal year
- New employees accrue 1 day of vacation for each full calendar month worked from the date of employment to the end of the fiscal year
- Future increases in vacation accrual rates are based on employee classification and length of service
- Limited vacation time can be carried over, but only with supervisory approval
- Vacation time must be approved and scheduled in advance
- Always refer to the appropriateCollective Negotiations Agreement for an variations or additional details concerning university policy on vacation days.
Future Changes in Accrual Rates for Fixed Workweek Employees (35, 37.5, or 40 hour workweeks)
- 12 years of service = 1.66 rate per full month
- 20 years of service = 2.1 rate per full month
Future Changes in Accrual Rates for Employees in "NL" Classifications
- 4 years of service = 1.66 rate
- 19 years of service = 2.1 rate per full month for the remainder of the fiscal year
Example of Calculation of Vacation Accrual during a Break Year
- Classification = 37.5 (NE)
- Rutgers hire date = 10/21/89
- 12 year anniversary = 10/21/01
- Jul-Oct 2001 = 4 mo@1.25 = 5 days
- Nov-Jun 2002 = 8 mo@1.66 = 13.3 days
As of July 1, 2002 employee has 18.3 days (to be used during the 02/03 fiscal year)
Vacation Accrual for Full-Time 10-Month Staff Employees
- Full-time 10-month staff employees accrue vacation time only for the months of September to June
Vacation Accrual for Part-Time Staff Employees
- Part-time staff
employees accrue a prorated amount of vacation time based
on the part-time percentage
