In an effort to Go Green and to reduce ozone pollution that often accompanies the hot and hazy days of summer, NJ Transit and University Human Resources have partnered to offer the OzonePass Program. OzonePasses are special discounted tickets that allow you to “try transit” instead of driving when high levels of ground-level ozone pollution are predicted. Employees can use OzonePasses to commute to and from work on any NJ Transit bus, train, or light rail system at a special discounted fare. OzonePass tickets are not valid for travel to New York or Philadelphia and cannot be used on Metro North trains.

OzonePasses are $1.60 one-way ($3.20 round-trip), cash only, and can be used on designated Ozone Action Days or Health Watch Days through September 8, 2017. Employees participating in the program should monitor the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJ DEP) air quality website to determine if the day has been designated an Ozone Action or Health Watch Day.

OzonePasses can be purchased at the Cashier’s Office in Records Hall, College Avenue Campus. Unused passes must be returned on or before August 25, 2017, to University Human Resources- Benefits Department. When returning the unused original tickets to the UHR-Benefits Department, please include your name, campus address, and the number of unused tickets being returned for a refund. PLEASE MAKE A COPY OF YOUR UNUSED TICKETS.  This copy will be your receipt for the reimbursement process.

Reimbursement of unused tickets must be processed within 60 days of the unused ticket return date:

Due to the University's changes in how reimbursements are issued to employees, we no longer can request OzonePass reimbursements through Disbursement on your behalf.  To facilitate reimbursement for the expenses incurred as part of the OzonePass Program, you are now required to process your reimbursement using the Cornerstone Expense Management Module, which can be accessed through the My Rutgers Portal (https://my.rutgers.edu).  Please note, before processing the transaction, call UHR-Benefits Department for an account number (GL string) - (848) 932-3990 which will be needed to complete the reimbursement process.
