Rutgers Faculty
More than 3,000 faculty teach and conduct research in over 175 academic departments and some 130 specialized research centers at Rutgers. Over 99 percent hold the Ph.D. or highest degree in their field. Our faculty include MacArthur “genius” award winners, National Medal of Science and National Medal of Technology winners, Fulbright scholars, Guggenheim fellows, and numerous members of the National Academy of Sciences and its affiliates. Rutgers in particular identifies and supports faculty who undertake “entrepreneurial” initiatives, meant in the broadest sense of striving for a challenging goal, and promotes programs that are broadly interdisciplinary, employing both the expertise and the theoretical framework of several traditional fields. Rutgers is also strongly committed to enhancing the diversity of its faculty.
