Director Communications/ Marketing
- Designs, develops, and produces recruitment materials that advance the university's position with prospective students, on schedule and within budget.
- Maintains accurate and timely records to support the marketing communications program.
- Provides accurate and timely cost estimates and budget approval prior to design of materials.
- Designs, develops, produces, and distributes Year 2000 Undergraduate Application for Admission by the established deadline.
- Develops new information strategies and supports special volunteer efforts to grow the enrollment.
- Accurately tracks and reports applicant, admit, and yield results by May 30 annually.
- Develops proven strategies to expand distribution of applications into new markets to grow the enrollment and to support the unit’s strategic marketing plan.
- Develops printed, electronic, and verbal communications that advance the university's competitive position, academic reputation, and value to prospective and admitted students.
- Maintains Undergraduate Admissions homepage to provide accurate and timely information.
- Maintains accurate and timely communication with external constituents to advance the name recognition and academic reputation of the university.
- Develops communication programs to maximize enrollment of newly admitted students and ease their transition to the university.
- Develops and documents cost effective strategies to expedite communications with prospective/admitted/enrolled students.
Communications Specialist
- Sets project objectives with department heads on schedule.
- Produces cost-effective research and meets objectives with target audiences.
- Defines "best methods and practices" that are realistic.
- Develops several options for schedules and budgets. Presents options to the supervisor as requested in written format.
- Drafts a comprehensive, dynamic, and succinct concept document. Gets approval on concept document from appropriate parties.
- Reviews effectiveness of program annually with department heads. Makes suggestions on improvements and additions for future project plans.
Editor/Writer
- Designs, develops, and produces marketing and informational materials that advance the department, on schedule and within any stated budget.
- Develops printed, electronic, and verbal communications that advance the department’s mission and reputation within the university community.
- Prepares written reports, articles, letters, web content, and executive summaries. Communication is free from error and is written in professional style per the direction of the Associate Vice President and/or Associate Director.
- Prepares new and updated information for the website. Information is prepared accurately, free from error, and is given in typed form to the Web Developer.
- Ensures all written communications, including but not limited to newsletters, brochures, fliers, web content, are proofed by the Associate Vice President and/or Associate Director prior to publishing.
- Uses the Rutgers Style Guide in the development of communication materials.
- Achieves a high level of accuracy in printing, proofing, grammar, and style.
- Understands the power of teamwork and demonstrates strong interpersonal skills in collaborating with coworkers to provide service.
- Ensures consistency in style, design, and layout of communication and marketing materials within the department. Works towards the development of a consistent “look” of departmental communications.
- Designs, develops, and oversees production of the staff newsletter according to monthly-established timelines. Solicits articles and information from managers and staff for the newsletter. Provides a clear timeline and format for information receipt.
- Works cooperatively with on and off-campus printers in the production of communication materials. Upon the request of the Director, will solicit bids for projects.
- Ensures all communications, including but not limited to newsletters, brochures, fliers, web content, are proofed by the Associate Vice President and/or Associate Director prior to publishing.
