Faculty Recruitment
As a Federal contractor, Rutgers University has an obligation to comply with affirmative action regulations governing all levels of employment including academic personnel practices. An effective affirmative action program for faculty is a legal requirement for the university. The Office of Federal Contract Compliance and Programs mandates that Rutgers University comply with State and Federal laws that prohibit discrimination on the basis of certain protected categories.
Rutgers University is committed to affirmative action in the area of faculty recruitment and retention. It recognizes the need for equality of opportunity in academia and therefore encourages hiring authorities to make good faith efforts to recruit qualified minority and/or female applicants where underutilization has been identified. It encourages hiring authorities to ensure that qualified females and minorities are well represented in the applicant pool for faculty positions.
