Harassment
Respect for one another in the workplace goes beyond tolerance. It is an understanding and appreciation of our differences that contribute to the realization of an academic, work and living environment free from harassment based on an individual’s race, religion, color, national origin, ancestry, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, disability, atypical hereditary cellular or blood trait, domestic partnership and civil union status, marital or veteran status, and any other category protected by law. Rutgers University is committed, through policy and practice, to a standard of conduct required of its students, faculty, and staff that will foster such an environment.
Members of the university community who feel that they may have been subjected to harassment can discuss their concerns, without fear of reprisal, with any of the Harassment Advisers, trained individuals who can offer advice and assistance. The university’s Policy Prohibiting Harassment provides for informal and formal processes of resolving complaints. A full description of the complaint process can be found in the Harassment Complaint Process. Any questions or concerns should be directed to a Harassment Adviser or to the Office of Employment Equity.
