Re: Important Details Regarding One-Time Payment for Eligible Employees in FY 2014-2015

In accordance with certain memorandums of agreement (MOAs) and contracts between the university and legacy Rutgers negotiating units, as well as university policy and parity for legacy Rutgers employees in non-aligned positions, please be advised that eligible employees will receive a one-time lump-sum payment of $500. This payment will be reflected in the paycheck dated July 3, 2014 for faculty and staff paid over a twelve month period, and in the paycheck of September 12, 2014 for 10-month staff.

In order to be eligible to receive this one-time payment, employees must be on the University’s payroll in an eligible position on June 30, 2014, and must continue in an eligible position through the date of payment.  For aligned employees covered by the AFSCME and IUOE negotiating agreements, eligible employees must be on the University payroll and at the top of the salary scale on June 30, 2014, and must continue in an eligible position at the top of the salary scale through the date of payment.

For your convenience, detailed information regarding the eligibility criteria can be found at http://uhr.rutgers.edu/sites/default/files/userfiles/One-Time-Payment-Schedule_2014.pdf.

Please note that this one-time lump sum payment is considered taxable income for the purposes of State and federal income taxes, but it is not pensionable income, and therefore will not be subject to calculations for pension contributions or benefits premium payments.
