Supervisor Development Program

Offered each semester, the Supervisor Development Program is designed to enhance new and existing supervisors’ knowledge and expertise in three key areas:  establishing yourself as a supervisor, managing employee performance, and creating a positive work environment. Three full-day modules address a wide range of topics in each area. You will have the opportunity to work with other supervisors and representatives of University Human Resources in a supportive environment to explore new ideas and approaches through large group interaction, case studies, small group discussion, and experiential activities.

Program Requirements
To be eligible, you must be in a supervisory position where you supervise full-time employees in the university. You will need to attend all three modules in full to complete the program and to receive a certificate of completion.

• Overview of  Family and Medical Leaves
• Understanding Your Leadership Style

Module Two

• Positive Approach to Discipline and Attendance Matters
• Affirmative Action Issues in Hiring
• Harassment Compliance
• Communications and Team Building

Module Three

• Motivating and Empowering Staff
• Setting Performance Standards
• Fair Labor Standards Act
• Assigning and Scheduling Work
