RUconnection Card Replacements
You must be currently employed, and must present a form of government-issued photo identification, to pick up a lost RUconnection Card, or have a card updated, reissued, or replaced. Replacement cards will not be issued without photo identification or receipt of necessary payment. If you have lost your wallet or it has been stolen, you may need to replace other forms of identification (ID) (such as your driver's license), before being able to get a replacement RUconnection Card.
Name/Status Change
RUconnection Cards will be reissued due to a legal name change or a change in status (new department, change of employment status, etc.), at no charge. The current active card must be exchanged for an updated one. Data changes must be in effect in the payroll system at the time of issuance. All replacement cards are issued with existing system data and photos.
Damaged Cards
You are expected to take reasonable care in the use and storage of your ID card. RUconnection Cards worn or damaged due to normal use are reprinted and replaced free of charge upon the presentation of all pieces of the old card. If damage appears intentional, or if all pieces are not surrendered, a $15.00 replacement fee will be required. Assessment of damage is at the sole discretion of the RUconnection Card Manager.
The punching of holes in RUconnection Cards is prohibited. The reissuing of such cards is subject to the replacement fee.
Lost or Stolen Cards
- You may want to suspend your card so no one else can access your accounts or services. You can do so online. You can reactivate your card via the same webpage should you find it before having it replaced. You can also call the RU Express/Board Plan Office directly at 732-932-8041 to suspend your card.
- Check your email. A notification will be sent to your main Rutgers email account if your RUconnection Card is found and returned to one of our offices. You must come to the office that has your card with a government-issued form of photo ID, such as a driver's license or passport, to retrieve it. There is no fee to retrieve your card. We cannot refund the fee if the card has already been replaced.
- If your RUconnection Card was stolen as the result of a violent crime, you can contact Crime Victim Services at 732-932-1181 to make an appointment to speak with a counselor. In some cases, the office will arrange to have the replacement fee waived. We cannot refund the fee if the card has already been replaced.
Payment Information
- The replacement fee for lost faculty, staff, or visitor RUconnection Cards may be paid by cash ($15) at the RUconnection Card Office at University Human Resources, ASB II, Geroge H. Cook Campus. This office can not accept payment by RU Express, check, credit card, coin, or bills larger than $20. Please have exact change if possible.
- Fee payments are nonrefundable. If you pay a replacement fee for a new ID card, you may request to take a new photo, providing you also present a form of government-issued photo ID. Otherwise, the RUconnection Card will be reissued with the existing photo on file.
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMERS - PLEASE READ
Upon replacement, all previously issued RUconnection Cards will be rendered inactive and will not be reactivated under any circumstances. Reissuing lost replacement cards requires an additional replacement fee.
The type of RUconnection Card issued depends on your primary role in the university. You are permitted to have only one active RUconnection Card at any time. You are required to update your RUconnection Card to one that reflects your current role when changing employment or status. You must surrender your previous RUconnection Card to have an updated one issued, even if expired. Failure to do so may result in the assessment of a $15 replacement fee.
RUconnection Cards are nontransferable and remain the property of Rutgers University regardless of any replacement fees paid. We reserve the right to confiscate and destroy all fraudulently used, invalid, or inactive cards. Reactivation or reissue of confiscated ID cards is subject to the current ID replacement fee. You may also be subject to additional institutional sanctions or criminal penalties.
Falsifying information to obtain a RUconnection Card is identity fraud and may incur prosecution to the full extent of the law.
