RUconnection Card - Information for Travelers

Designed specifically for regular, salaried faculty and staff (Type 1) traveling abroad, the University Traveler's Photo ID Card displays an individual's department and title, and information frequently requested by institutions such as libraries and museums for proof of Rutgers University affiliation. This card does not replace your RUconnection Card and is not a valid form of identification (ID) within the university.

You must already have a Faculty/Staff RUconnection Card for us to process your University Traveler's Photo ID Card request. If you do not have an RUconnection Card, you must first come to University Human Resources, ASB II, Cook Campus, to obtain one. Your University Traveler's Photo ID Card will be issued with the same photo as your RUconnection Card.

Faculty and staff interested in obtaining a University Traveler's Photo ID Card may do so by completing the University Traveler's ID Card Request Form. Please provide your name, title, department, and faculty unit as you would like it to appear on your University Traveler's Photo ID Card, and your email and campus address.

There is a $2.00 fee for the University Traveler's Photo ID Card, payable in advance. The card is valid for two years from the month of issue (or your appointment end date, if sooner). You may renew or replace your card by submitting a new request and fee. These cards are not issued on a walk-in basis in our offices. Please allow at least two weeks processing time.

The University Traveler’s Photo ID Card does not replace the SOS International Emergency Assistance Program card or activate coverage. You will still need to contact Global Programs to do so.
