Faculty/Staff/Visitor Identification (ID) Card Services

Gaining access to services and facilities at Rutgers University is easy once you have an RUconnection Card. All faculty, staff, retiree, and visitor identification (ID) card services are provided at University Human Resources, Administrative Services Building II, Cook Campus between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.. In most cases, your card will be issued immediately while you wait.

Your RUconnection Card is issued based on your specific status within the Rutgers University community. Each category below tells you how to obtain your card, and what access privileges are available to you.

Employee Type Descriptions
Full-Time Faculty/Staff (Type 1): Regularly salaried employees, including salaried part-time employees, eligible for pension and eligible for health insurance benefits.

Hourly Staff (Type 4): Casual employees paid hourly, regardless of number of hours worked.

Student Employees (Type 5, 6): Rutgers students paid on an hourly basis and salaried students, primarily teaching and graduate assistants, eligible for health insurance benefits.

Part-Time Faculty (Type 7, 8): Part-time lecturers and certain other academic support positions and Coadjutant Casual employees paid a contracted amount.

Post Doctorate Fellows (Type 9): Post doctorate fellows with no formal employer/employee relationship.
