Subject: Open Enrollment Period for the State Health Benefits Program and Tax$ave

October is Open Enrollment for the NJ State Health Benefits Program (SHBP) and the NJ Tax$ave program. This is your annual opportunity to modify your health and dental coverage, and enroll or modify deduction elections for dependent care or flexible spending accounts. If you decide to make changes or additions to your coverage, you will need to submit a SHBP Health and/or Dental Application along with supporting documentation to Payroll Services by October 29, 2010. The changes you make during Open Enrollment will become effective January 1, 2011.

As mandated by the state, the standard employee health insurance contribution is 1.5 percent of the employee's annual base salary. This 1.5 percent contribution remains constant regardless of the medical plan selected or level of coverage.

University Human Resources (UHR) will host "Working for U" Benefit and Resource Fairs during the month of October. The UHR benefits staff and representatives from the medical and dental plans, investment carriers, Workplace Banking institutions, employee discount providers, and the carrier for the flexible spending account plans (FBMC), will be at the fairs to provide information and answer questions.
