Yes. Teaching Assistant/Graduate Assistant with Less Than a Full-Time Appointment, receive group term life insurance coverage through Aetna Life Insurance Company.
The member can continue to see the doctor at the in-network level due to his or her participating status as an IBC (Independence Blue Cross in Pennsylvania) BlueCard provider. The doctor will submit the claim to IBC (Independence Blue Cross in Pennsylvania) and the claim will be processed through the BlueCard program.
The member's doctor will remain in the Horizon network and the member can continue to see the doctor at the in-network level regardless of the location of the service. Facility charges incurred at UPHS will be submitted to IBC (Independence Blue Cross in Pennsylvania) and processed at the in-network level through the BlueCard Program.
Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ has announced the termination of contracts with the University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS), which includes Pennsylvania Hospital, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. These facilities will be considered “out of network” beginning April 10, 2009. Since NJ DIRECT members are entitled to BlueCard Benefits through their plan, they can continue use of these facilities.
On January 16, 2009, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ announced that an agreement with The Children's Hospital of Pennsylvania (CHOP) had been reached. CHOP will continue to be "in-network" for members of NJ DIRECT. This includes CHOP facilities and providers in New Jersey.
If members are currently receiving treatment at UPHS facilities and care needs to continue beyond the conclusion of the four-month contract extension period, they should call Horizon's Utilization Management Department at 800-664-BLUE (2583) for assistance.
