Erica Anderson, Assistant Dean for Retention and Readmission, Rutgers College Office of Academic Services
Nominated by: Justine H. Levine, Associate Director, Rutgers College Office of the Dean
Outstanding Achievement: Erica established a program for students at-risk after their first semester. She located resources to administer the Noel-Levitz College Student Inventory to over 100 students and recruited advisors from the counseling center, academic advising, substance abuse program, EOF, learning centers, career services, and TRIO staff. She trained more than 20 advisors to work with at-risk students and track their progress. Her program builds relationships, creates bridges between students, staff, faculty, and alumni, and forms a strong foundation for referral networking.

Camille S. Andrews, Associate Dean for Enrollment, Rutgers Law School–Camden
Nominated by: Rayman L. Solomon, Dean, Rutgers Law School Camden
Outstanding Achievement: Some of Camille’s accomplishments include the expansion of the annual Dean’s Law Day to include a visit to the nearby Federal Courthouse where students meet federal judges and congressmen who are alumni of the Rutgers Law School–Camden, and participate in alumni panels and a student organization and housing fair. She recruits at major law forums, has revamped promotional materials, and has instituted a successful mailing campaign throughout the country. The school’s recent rise in the U.S. News and World Report rankings from 78th two years ago to 65th in the most recent rankings are due in large part to the improvement in the quality of students that has resulted from Camille’s efforts

Jeanette Danner, Administrative Assistant, FAS Sociology
Nominated by: 24 members of the Sociology Department
Outstanding Achievement: Jeanette practiced the policy of student service long before it was a University requirement. To her colleagues, she is the glue that holds the department together. She provides front line services to hundreds of sociology majors and minors and supports the faculty teaching undergraduate courses. She often goes above and beyond the call of her position, taking an active role in planning departmental functions such as the department’s Honors Program, end of the year events, and by pitching in with departmental priorities and emergencies. In addition, she administers the Criminology Certificate and provides essential support for other academic programs such as the Aging Certificate.

David Maiullo, Physics Support Specialist, Department of Physics and Astronomy
Nominated by: Mark C. Croft, Professor, Department of Physics and Astronomy
Outstanding Achievement: David’s primary role is to support all physics courses by providing access to the wealth of physic demonstrations available from the Physics Lecture Hall facility that he oversees at the university. However, he has also been categorized by his colleagues as a one-man traveling outreach and ambassador-of-good-will program for the general public and science teaching professionals. In 2004 and 2005, he performed numerous physics demonstration shows for over 2,200 children and adults at libraries and high schools throughout the state to generate excitement in the study of science. David tangibly makes physics fun for students to learn and for faculty to teach.

Joan McCracken, MBA Administrative Assistant, School of Business-Camden

Outstanding Achievement: In her role as administrative assistant for the School of Business–Camden, Joan is the initial contact for prospective MBA students and remains the primary contact for the students through graduation. She takes responsibility for promoting the program, monitoring enrollments and schedules, facilitating the transition of international students into the program, arranging classrooms for off-site programs, and ensuring that the web site is update. In addition to providing service to students, she also provides support to faculty and administrators on the Camden campus. She is willing to take on additional tasks and plays a leadership role in the planning and implementation of many new initiatives.

Christina Strasburger, Administrative Assistant on the Newark Campus
Nominated by: Clement Price, Director of the Institute on Ethnicity and the Modern Experience and Board of Governor’s Distinguished Service Professor of History
Outstanding Achievement: Christina is responsible for three separate departments – History, Afro/American Studies, and the Institute on Ethnicity and the Modern Experience. She attends to the needs of undergraduate and graduate students, and to the concerns of faculty members. She is willing to take on new challenges and tasks in an effort to help her department including interviewing prospective staff members and advising search committees of her findings. She has also taken the initiative to improve the aesthetic quality of Conklin Hall which features compelling images, signage, and informational settings. She continuously serves as a role model to her colleagues to give 100% to the students, department, campus, and university.
