Re: UHR to Host Retirement Readiness / Financial Literacy Workshop Seminars

Planning for your financial future can be a difficult task without a strong understanding of the tools and resources available to help you along the path to a secure and rewarding retirement.  At Rutgers, we are committed to ensuring that the university’s employees have an opportunity to learn about savings strategies, financial resources and the tools and programs that can help them prepare for whatever tomorrow may bring.

As part of that commitment, I am pleased to announce that University Human Resources (UHR) will be partnering with our third party investment carriers to provide retirement readiness / financial literacy seminars and workshops on our campuses geared towards employees at all levels in their careers – whether it be early-career employees looking to improve their savings portfolios, or employees nearing retirement, looking to learn how to make the most of the resources and programs available to them.

Our first session, “Social Security and Your Retirement,” provided by VALIC Financial Advisors, will be offered on Friday, June 12th from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in Community Rooms A&B, Administrative Services Building II on Cook Campus in New Brunswick and on Thursday, June 25 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at Blumenthal Hall, Room 201 on the Rutgers University-Newark campus.  You may enroll in either of these sessions by logging in with your NetID at, and selecting the appropriate session. Registration is required to attend, and additional information about this seminar can be found here.

In addition to the “Social Security and Your Retirement” workshop, VALIC will also provide a seminar entitled “Retirement Strategies for Women” in July.  Additional details can be found here, and you may enroll using the link above.

As we schedule additional sessions with our other third-party investment carriers on financial education topics of interest, we will keep you updated on the schedule.  Additionally, we are hoping to roll out some financial literacy webinars to accommodate employees who may not be able to attend in person, but who would like to expand their financial and savings IQ.  More information on these initiatives will be forthcoming.
