The month of October is the Open Enrollment period for the NJ State Health Benefits Program (SHBP) and the NJ Tax$ave program (flexible spending accounts). If you wish to make changes or additions to your health insurance coverage, forms must be submitted to Payroll Services on or before October 27, 2008. "Working For U" Benefit and Resources Fairs will be held on the Camden, Newark, and New Brunswick campuses. Changes made during Open Enrollment will become effective January 1, 2009. President's Recognition Program Awards Ceremony and Showcase
The entire Rutgers community is invited to attend the President's Recognition Program Awards Ceremony and Showcase on Tuesday, October 14 at 11:30 a.m. in the Main Lounge and Multipurpose Room of the Rutgers Student Center on the College Avenue Campus. The Showcase is designed to promote innovation and collaboration, foster the sharing of “best practices,” and encourage networking among staff. Update on AIG Valic Retirement Accounts
Employees looking for information on their retirement accounts with AIG Valic must contact the investment carrier directly. If you currently have an account with AIG Valic, you can contact the account representative assigned to your contract. This information can be found on your most current AIG statement. SHBP Hospital Termination Letter Sent in Error
Information was recently sent out to members of the State Health Benefits Program (SHBP) that Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey’s contracts will be terminated with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and the University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS). The State of New Jersey has released information that this letter was sent in error and the contracts remain in effect. Fall Workshop Calendar Announced
The UHR Professional Development Program has announced the upcoming fall schedule of open enrollment and certificate program workshops. A wide variety of free learning opportunities is available for Rutgers faculty and staff to improve communications and interpersonal skills, build supervisory and leadership strengths, and enhance knowledge about information technology and university business practices. New Classification & Recruitment Form
There is a new Classification and Recruitment Form (CARF) that should be used for all new positions, reclassifications, and vacancies. This form can be accessed from the Applicant Tracking System login page or from our Get A Form page. For more information contact your HR Consultant.

FY 2008–2009 Pay-for-Performance Program and Staff Compensation Program
The FY 2008–2009 Pay-for-Performance Program (P4P) for Managerial, Professional, Supervisory, and Confidential (MPSC) non-aligned staff employees has been announced. P4P information and guidelines for deans, managers, and department heads is now available on the UHR website. Click here to access resources for staff employees eligible for P4P.
Employees represented by URA-AFT are eligible for the Staff Compensation Program (SCP). Information for deans, managers, and department heads is accessible via the UHR website. Click here for general SCP information for eligible staff employees. Additional information about the Staff Compensation Program is located under Article 38 of the URA-AFT agreement.
The P4P and SCP compensation programs will run concurrently this spring.
As of April 1, 2008, Rutgers faculty and staff can communicate live online with a UHR benefits representative Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. via the Benefits Messaging System. If a representative is not available to assist you when you log on, you will be given the option to send your question via email. The online chat system is also accessible through the UHR homepage by selecting the Online Tools menu option and then choosing the Benefits Messaging System.
2008 Pension Loan Interest Rate Change
The Division of Pensions and Benefits announced a change in the interest rate for Public Employee’s Retirement System (PERS) and Police and Firemen’s Retirement System (PFRS) loans. The new interest rate of 4.69 percent will take effect January 1, 2008, and loans will be subject to an administrative fee of $8 that will be subtracted from the loan amount. 2008 Online Tax Deferral Process
Employees who are members of a state-administered retirement plan or are currently participating in a tax-deferred annuity (TDA) can view their 2008 tax deferral limit information and make changes online.
