MPSC Paid Leave Bank Days

Date: March 19, 2010
To: Managerial, Professional, Supervisory, and Confidential employees
From: Vivian Fernandez
Vice President Faculty and Staff Resources
Subject: MPSC Paid Leave Bank Days

In accordance with Phil Furmanski’s email of December 21, 2009 stating that non-aligned employees, to the extent possible, will be afforded terms similar to those negotiated with our staff unions this past year, Managerial, Professional, Supervisory, and Confidential (MPSC) employees will be granted Paid Leave Bank (PLB) days. All MPSC employees on the payroll as of June 30, 2010, and who remain on the payroll on July 1, 2010, will receive a one-time credit of four (4) paid leave bank days.

The PLB days will be maintained separately and apart from banks of other paid leave and there will be no limitations on the carryover of days in the PLBs. Specifically, the carry over restrictions that are applicable to paid vacation, administrative leave days, and personal holidays will not be applicable to the PLBs.

Beginning July 1, 2010 and for the duration of their employment with Rutgers, MPSC employees may use days in the PLB, subject to operational needs. The use and scheduling of PLB days will be consistent with existing university and/or departmental practices regarding the use and scheduling of administrative leave days. Approval for the use and scheduling of PLB days shall not be unreasonably denied.

At the time an employee retires, resigns, passes away, or is otherwise separated from Rutgers service, either voluntarily or involuntarily, any unused days in an employee’s PLB will be paid upon separation. Employees who die while employed with the university shall have the balance of his or her PLB paid to his or her estate.

If you have any questions regarding PLBs, contact a member of the University Human Resources Benefits Staff at 732-932-3020, ext. 4077.
