Non-Discrimination Statement

Rutgers University (“University”) prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin (including based on shared ancestry or ethnic characteristics), age, sex, sexual orientation, pregnancy, gender identity and expression, disability, genetic information, atypical hereditary cellular or blood trait, marital status, civil union status, domestic partnership status, military service, veteran status, and any other category protected by law in the educational programs and activities it operates, as required by Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, as amended in 2008, the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination (NJLAD), and other federal, state, and local laws.

The University has designated the following offices to coordinate the University’s compliance with federal and state laws and University policies regarding discrimination, harassment, and retaliation:

  • The Director of the Office of Employment Equity (OEE), who is also the Title IX Coordinator for faculty and staff, is responsible for receiving reports of discrimination, harassment, or retaliation involving conduct committed by employees and third parties in violation of the University’s Policy Prohibiting Discrimination and Harassment and the University’s Title IX Policy and Grievance Procedures.   • The Office of the Dean of Students on each campus is responsible for receiving reports of discrimination, harassment, or retaliation involving conduct committed by students in violation of the University’s Code of Student Conduct.   • The Title IX Office on each campus is responsible for receiving reports of discrimination, harassment, or retaliation involving conduct committed by students in violation of the Title IX Policy and Grievance Procedures. Contact information for the University’s Title IX Coordinators can be found here. Inquiries about Title IX may be referred to a Title IX Coordinator, the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, or both.

Further, the University complies with all federal and state laws that protect individuals with disabilities from discrimination based on their disability or perceived disability status. Reasonable accommodations and auxiliary aids and services are available to individuals with disabilities when such modifications and services are necessary to access the institution's programs and services.
