Are winter courses eligible for tuition remission?
Tuition remission is not available to faculty, staff, or dependent children enrolled in courses during Winter Session.
Can dependent children of employees receive tuition remission for summer session courses?
Dependent children of full-time faculty and staff members, enrolled at the university as full-time or part-time students, can receive tuition remission for only one summer. A summer session counts towards one full term of eligible tuition.

No paper forms are required to receive employee remission. The application for staff and faculty remission is online, in the “Personal Information” section under the “Employee Self Service” tab in the my Rutgers Portal.

My child will be enrolling in a Study Abroad program. Will this program be eligible for tuition remission?
The determination will be at the discretion of the dean or director of the academic unit offering the program. Study abroad programs are "self-supporting" programs that require a sufficient number of tuition-paying students to be enrolled to make the course cost effective. If approved, any program costs incurred such as fees, travel costs, etc. will be the responsibility of the employee.
What group of employees is eligible to receive 100% tuition remission for themselves and what group is eligible to receive 50%?
Effective July 1, 2018, staff members receiving a salary at or below $106,586 are entitled to full tuition remission. Staff members receiving a salary above $106,586 are entitled to 50% tuition remission. Faculty members below the rank of Associate Professor are entitled to full tuition remission. Faculty members at or above the rank of Associate Professor are entitled to 50% tuition remission.
Does the Employee Tuition Remission benefit apply to all fully online Bachelors and Master's Degree Program's?
Fully online Bachelor's and Master's Degree Programs are not covered under the Tuition Remission benefit, for more information please refer to Office of Student Accounting, Billing, and Cashiering under -Fully Online Bachelor's Degree Programs and -Fully Online Master's Degree Programs.
When do retired employees qualify for tuition remission for themselves and their dependent children?
Retired employees and their dependent children are eligible for tuition remission if they retired from a full-time, regularly appointed position under the terms of a university retirement program after 25 years of Rutgers employment, or after attaining age 60 with a minimum of 10 years of full-time Rutgers employment.
