Part-Time Employees

Part-time employees at Rutgers may be eligible to enroll in a State-administered pension program and the Part-Time State Health Benefits Program (SHBP). The following are steps that you should take to enroll in various benefit programs, if eligible. Please refer to the Part-Time SHBP webpage for additional information including eligibility and plan overviews. If you need assistance, please contact a Benefits Specialist at (848) 932-3990.

Health

  • Complete enrollment through Benefitsolver by accessing a link on the MyNewJersey portal
  • Provide marriage certificate, if applicable
  • Provide Certificate of Civil Union or Domestic Partnership, if applicable

Enrolling in State Health Benefits Program

Employees must to log into Benefitsolver by accessing a link on the MyNewJersey portal to make changes to medical, prescription, and dental plans.

Employees can directly access the BenefitSolver site by going to: http://mynjbenefitshub.nj.gov

First time users must register by the following these instructions:

  • Click Register
  • Enter SSN and Date of Birth
  • Enter Company Key: SHBP/SEHBP
  • Click Continue

  • In order to access the system, you will need to create a MyNewJersey portal account
  • If you have trouble creating an account and/or accessing the MyNewJersey portal, contact New Jersey OIT support at https://www.nj.gov/mynj/myNJRestrHelp.html
  • If you have problems with Benefitsolver, please utilize the support service within the application

Please note that plan membership is determined by the state based on job title.

Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS)

Alternate Benefit Program (ABP)

  • Complete Carrier Allocation Form/Salary Reduction Agreement
  • Obtain unique enrollment form from state-authorized investment carrier
  • Return unique enrollment form directly to carrier
  • Return a copy of the unique enrollment form, ABP Enrollment Application, and ABP Carrier Election and Allocation form to the person in your Human Resources department

Voluntary Savings - Members of PERS

Additional Contributions Tax Sheltered Program (ACTS)

  • Complete ACTS Carrier Allocation Form/Salary Reduction Agreement
  • Obtain unique 403(b) Enrollment Form from state-authorized investment carrier (TIAA participants complete Group Supplemental Retirement Enrollment Form)
  • Return unique 403(b) Enrollment Form directly to carrier
  • Return a copy of the unique 403(b) Enrollment Form and the ACTS Carrier Allocation/Salary Reduction Agreement form to your Human Resources department

Supplemental Annuity Collective Trust (SACT)

  • Complete SACT Enrollment Application
  • Return the application to the person in your department who handles payroll processing, who will forward it to your Human Resources department

Voluntary Savings – All Pension Plan Members

Voluntary Savings - Members Of ABP

  • Complete an Carrier Allocation/ Salary Reduction Agreement
  • Obtain unique 403(b) Enrollment Form from state-authorized investment carrier (TIAA participants complete Group Supplemental Retirement Enrollment Form)
  • Return the unique 403(b) Enrollment Form directly to the carrier
  • Provide a copy of the unique 403(b) Enrollment Form and the ABP Carrier Allocation/Salary Reduction Agreement form to your Human Resources department
